Consumer warning from Noch

The accessory manufacturer Noch has issued an urgent product warning for its products ‘micro-rooms LEDs’ (art. no. 51250, 51270, 51271, 51275, 51276, 51280, 51281, 51285, 51286) and “pumpkins” (art. no. 51210) for operation in conjunction with a 16 V model railway transformer (‘iron core transformer’). We reproduce it in the original wording:
"When using the following products with a 16 V model railway transformer (‘iron-core transformer’), there is a risk that a component on the circuit board may burn out due to a design-related, short-term overvoltage when the transformer is switched on/plugged in. This can result in high temperatures or even a flame.
CAUTION: There is a risk of injury and fire!

WARNING:
The above-mentioned products may not be operated in their current form with a 16 V model railway transformer (‘iron core transformer’, e.g. Märklin 6647, 66471, 6631, 37540 etc.; Fleischmann 6755, 6735 etc. and other manufacturers). If you have already installed the products, never operate the built-in lights with an unregulated 16 V model railway transformer!
Note: If you operate the lighting elements with a power supply unit or a digital control centre (max. 16 V), there is no danger. The products can be operated safely in these cases.
Necessary measure for operation with 16 V model railway transformers:
Only operate the product with a 16 V model railway transformer after installing a 300 Ohm series resistor. This will minimise the short-term overvoltage when switching on or plugging in the transformer and ensure safe operation. The resistor must be connected to a supply cable of the circuit board (e.g. by soldering).
If you wish to operate the above products with a 16 V alternating current transformer, Noch offers the following solutions:
- Sending a resistor: Please contact NOCH and let them know how many LEDs you have purchased. The resistors and installation instructions will be sent to you.
- Alternatively, you can return the above-mentioned products to Noch GmbH & Co. KG, Lindauerstraße 49, D-88239 Wangen im Allgäu by post or
- at Noch Modellbau-Welt, Lindauerstraße 49, D-88239 Wangen im Allgäu, Germany
- to your local Noch dealer, who will forward them to Noch."
This message was supplemented by the ‘Lighthouse with light signal’ in the table on 21 June 2025 following a new notification from the manufacturer.
