Toy Fair 2022 cancelled
Märklin had already cancelled its participation on 22 December 2021 with reference to the uncertain situation and stated that it did not want to expose employees and visitors to any risk of illness. Other exhibitors from the model railway sector followed. Question marks were also raised as to what the employees of Chinese exhibitors could expect with regard to quarantine regulations when they returned from Nuremberg. It seemed only a matter of time before the Toy Fair itself would react.
On 13 January 2022, it announced that the situation had recently deteriorated considerably and that there was no longer any planning certainty in view of the Omikron variant, which was spreading fast and further, and the possible cancellation by the authorities. This means that this leading trade fair will be cancelled for the second time in a row. The organiser points to its new format "Toy Fair Digital" as a multifunctional platform to compensate for the cancellation.
