Trainini 8/2026: Focus on Modular Construction

Our cover story takes us back to old Prussia, for that is where the origins lie of a tender steam locomotive which served as the inspiration for a home-built model. At the same time, it is a study, as the aim was to find out whether it could be built to prototypical standards using existing Märklin chassis. Today, we present this little gem – created at our suggestion by Martin Grübele – in detail.

No fewer than two articles deal with modular layout construction, which has regained importance in recent years. Michael Boost builds the new curved modules for the T-Trak-Z system by Trainsetter for us, whilst the second article explores mechanical and electrical connection options. And for cooler or rainy days, there are of course two book recommendations once again, which could not be more different.

The news section is small but mighty: there seems to be a summer lull, but what has been delivered is certainly worth noting.
