Aged with dignity: Omm 33
- Created by Redaktion
The open goods wagons Omm(r) 33, ex Villach type district, dating from the Second World War, had proved their worth, but were nearing the end of their useful life in the 1960s.The remaining wagons went into rapid decline from 1966, but it was not until 1974 that the last wagons were taken out of service. More than 5,000 wagons were therefore given UIC numbers and new UIC class designations, some of which were still in service for almost ten years.
Since then, their new designation has been E 028, which are now being offered in a new FR wagon pack (item no. 49.338.22) in an edition of 50 from the 1zu220-Shop. The markings correspond to the transition period from the former national generic abbreviations to the standardised UIC designations. We can still read Omm 33 and a reference to the maximum authorised speed of 75 km/h on the coach body.
This unique edition fits in perfectly with the cross-manufacturer focus on new items ‘Black Gold’, as the two open wagons are ideally suited for use in coal and steel transport.
