Märklin: Wagon set completely delivered

  • Created by Redaktion

Following the matching baggage car, the associated pack of four Prussian compartment cars has now also found its way to dealers.

At the turn of the month August / September Märklin delivered the complete "compartment car" car set (item no. 87565) to the trade. This is a useful addition to the baggage car of Prussian origin (87566) that has been available since July. For the first time after 2005, the four-axle compartment wagons with DB inscriptions (Era III) have found their way back into the programme. The main difference to the earlier range is the now missing Ege biscuits of the Bundesbahn. This is the only thing that corresponds to the historical prototype, because the cars with wooden bodies were no longer allowed to be used in passenger trains from 1962 at the latest.

Since their withdrawal from service had already been determined, the DB decided not to affix its logo. In contrast to their three-axle siblings, the four-axle cars disappeared from the rails much earlier and supplied parts for the conversion car programme of the young Bundesbahn. In contrast to the past, Märklin shows the courage here to follow the originals consistently and not to print a national emblem contrary to the prototype in supposed customer expectation.

The novelty consists of one car AB4 pr 04 with 1st/2nd class and brakeman's cab as well as three cars B4 pr 04 (2nd class), one of which also has a brakeman's cab. All four cars are painted in bottle green according to RAL 6007. The bogies correspond to the prototypical Prussian standard design. Pleasantly noticeable is the clearly finer reproduction of the frames on the drop windows.
